Test Run: BaByliss PRO Nano Titanium 1 1/4″ Straightening Iron
I’ve been using a red-plated FHI flat iron for the past five years, and it finally bit the dust! I was pretty upset about it, but my amazing hair stylist, Amber, used a BaByliss on me a few weeks ago. I had to get one! Although Amber used it on me with perfect results, I thought it may have been that whole “hair looks great after salon” phenomenon that we’ve all experienced. So I read some reviews, but they were all mixed. After Christmas, I found a sweet online deal at Folica and got the BaByliss PRO Nano Titanium 1 1/4″ and a mat to put it on for just $109! This iron retails for about $130, so that was a great chunk of savings for such a good straightener.
It has several different heat settings: 300, 340, 375, 410, 450 which is perfect for different hair types. I have thick, curly hair so I stay in the 375-410 range. If I’m going from curly to straight without blowdrying, I can handle the 450. It heats up at lightning speed (literally a minute) so you don’t have to wait before you can get going on your hair. The titanium plates I think really make a difference. We used to be all about ceramic plates, but these are so much better! They leave my hair super shiny and soft and makes it last all day. Usually with my other flat iron, my hair would start to crease where it hits the back of my neck and flip outward. Not anymore! My hair stays totally straight all day long.
Heats up fast
Doesn’t snag hair
Adds shine
Hair feels healthy, not brittle after use
Cons
Area on the outside of plates gets pretty toasty
Could burn your hair if it’s not on the right temperature for your hair type
Overall
