DIY Spa
As CollegeCandy’s resident beauty guru, I play around a lot with at home spa treatments. I’ve been a little stressed since moving back home so today I decided to chill out. This mask is great if you’re breaking out, need to exfoliate, or want to brighten up your skin a bit. You’d be surprised what you can make out of the stuff in your kitchen!
Minted
Between the gloomy weather we’ve been having here in Tuscaloosa and the college-bound cold I’ve been fighting, I needed a little pick me up. Some people watch funny movies or go shopping. I paint my nails bright colors. It’s a quirk. China Glaze’s Re-Fresh Mint perked me right up. It was either that or the insane amount of DayQuil I’ve been taking.
Get Bronzed
After a much needed week in at the beach for spring break, I’m finally back! Did you miss me? While I definitely enjoyed my fun in the sun, it’s kind of nice to wake up without sand everywhere. But I will say I miss the lack of responsibilities and lounging around all day. I’m a big proponent of safe sun, so I wore sunscreen but still ended up tanner than I’ve been in a very long time. My makeup doesn’t match my skin tone at all. I’ve got freckles on freckles on freckles.
Everyone has their tan skin shade products, so here are my three favorites at the moment:
|1. Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten Bronzer in Honey Dipped | 2. Hawaiian Tropic Shimmer Effect SPF | 3. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Baked|
Almost Naked Nails
I feel weird having bare nails, and it’s probably because one of my BFFs (hey Kelly!) turned me into a nail painting fiend. I swear we painted our nails every day when we lived together. Sometimes I want to keep it natural, but I hate not wearing anything on my digits. Enter the nude polish.
OPI’s Samoan Sand is my new go-to nude color. It matches everything and makes my nails look really clean and put together. I bought two bottles.
CC Beauty Live Presents: Self Tanner Basics
Everyone is expected to be tan in the summer, yeah? And while you know all about the dangers of tanning, people still do it. That will never change. I love being outside, and there’s nothing like a tan from natural sunlight. But like always, you have to use protection (see what I did there?). I used to go to the tanning bed all the time, so trust me- I see the appeal. And I have a strong aversion to self tanners due to their tendency to make me a coconut-scented Oompa Loompa.
Well FakeBake sent me their Flawless Tanning Lotion ($24.95) which did not turn me orange, but it did leave me smelling as if Hawaiian Tropic invented an air freshener even after I showered. The tan is pretty dark with the first application, and it stays on for a decent amount of time. Self tanners can be tricky to apply without streaking or splotches, but I’ve got some basics for you. The most important part of getting a good tan with a self tanner is patience.
