DIY Spa

As CollegeCandy’s resident beauty guru, I play around a lot with at home spa treatments. I’ve been a little stressed since moving back home so today I decided to chill out. This mask is great if you’re breaking out, need to exfoliate, or want to brighten up your skin a bit. You’d be surprised what you can make out of the stuff in your kitchen!

Introducing Sasha Rhett Watches

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to try out some gorgeous timepieces from Sasha Rhett. They’ve been featured in Allure, Self, In Touch, Oprah Magazine and more! You can even see Sasha Rhett watches on the arms of Gossip Girl’s Princess Beatrice. You know it’s fashionable when it’s on Gossip Girl. Founder Alexandra Duam wanted to create unique watches that could be customized with ease, and she has done just that. I love a good watch as they make the perfect staple in any arm party, and Sasha Rhett watches can be changed to your liking with their interchangeable straps. Your first watch includes a face and strap of your choosing, and then you can purchase additional straps to change out according to your style at the moment. They’ve got straps in literally any color you could want, so you’ve got tons of options. Full watches range from $199-$299, and additional straps range from $65-75 which is a great deal considering you can create so many different styles. You can purchase everything online or in several stores across the country!

CC Beauty Live Presents: To Match Or Not To Match?

[If you loved the look I did for my masquerade, this video is for you!  I go through step by step how I achieved that fabulous turquoise smokey eye.  Make sure you go to College Candy for the video!]

Well that is the question.

You always hear beauty experts say, “Don’t match your makeup to your outfit.” I disagree.  I think as long as you don’t look like one of Rainbow Brite’s sprites threw up all over you, then go for it.  What’s wrong with a little coordination?

This weekend, I had a masquerade cocktail party which was the perfect excuse to wearreally over-the-top eye makeup.  My mask wasn’t all too exciting: black, white, and silver.  My dress was black, my shoes were black.  Yawn.

So I found these fun and sparkly turquoise earrings and decided to match my makeup and nail polish to them for some pops of color.  It was perfectly OK because it wasn’t a total head-to-toe, matchy matchy look.  And everyone loved it!  The key is to not match your makeup to everything on your person.  But matching to one or two accessories or using an outfit color for inspiration is not only an acceptable way to go, but the way to go.

So let’s get down to business, shall we? In this week’s video, I’ll be showing you how to do an fierce turquoise smokey eye.

Masquerade!

Tonight I’m off to a Masquerade party for my sorority! I’m really excited because ever since I saw Phantom of the Opera for the first time (the play, then the movie), I wanted to go to a Masquerade ball.  This isn’t really a ball, but it’s close enough.  If you haven’t seen POTO, then do it.  It’s not touring anymore so you’ll have to settle for Gerard Butler as the Phantom, sorry.

Anyway, I decided to amp it up because my mask is black, white, and silver and my dress is black.  It’s boring.  I found these fantastic earrings and thought why not match my makeup to my accessories?  ”They” always say not to match your makeup to stuff, but I say do it.  As long as you’re not matching it to everything. So I have these turquoise earrings, turquoise nail polish, and an awesome turquoise+black smokey eye to go with it.

Here’s what I used:

1. Urban Decay Primer Potion

2. MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow My Dark Magic: outer 1/3

3. Kat Von D Groupie Eyeshadow: browbone & blending

4. Various colors from an NYX Box of Eye Shadows (112 colors!!): middle 1/3, inner 1/3, lower lash line

5. Diorshow Blackout Mascara

I’ll review this box soon!
