DIY Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray
You guys know I love Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray. It gives perfect beach waves with just a couple of spritzes, which makes it my go-to hair product for summer. My hair has gotten really long now so I don’t like to dry it nor do I have the time to do so. While I’ve been blessed with some pretty great natural waves, they need a little help. Surf Spray does the trick every time. But shit’s expensive. It’s $24.00 for a 4 oz bottle. Sorry B&B, that’s ridiculous. I work a lot, but I don’t have that kind of green lying around and you’re ripping us off. Real talk.
I figured it’s just salt-water with some other stuff in there, and I could probably make it myself. Salt really dries out your hair so I looked for hydrating elements to throw in like coconut oil (my new favorite thing ever). You can do this with just water, coconut oil, and salt but I added in some other things for extra hold, hydration, and scent. I had everything in my cabinets except the salt, which was a huge bag for $4. I just made 6 oz bottle of a better smelling and better holding surf spray for under $10. Suck it Bumble & Bumble!
What I used:
- 2 tbsp Epsom Salt
- 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 4 drops Love Amika Oil Treatment
- 1 tbsp Sunsilk Waves of Envy gel (they don’t make this anymore, but any gel should suffice!)
I need a better label, but you get the idea!
