I’m not crazy, but I’ll admit that I’m definitely a bit of a nut sometimes. You know when you have a beauty product that just smells so good so you give it a little taste? No? Okay, well then I definitely didn’t do that with LUSH’s Oatifix Fresh Face Mask. Nope, totally didn’t try to eat it.

Fresh Face Masks are meant for almost immediate use, but you can pop them in the fridge until they expire. Nothing feels better than an ice-cold face mask. Except sex. Maybe that feels better. What do I know?

Oatifix is made with bananas, oats, vanilla, and almonds. It smells like what I imagine Jack Johnson was singing about in Banana Pancakes, which I’ve never had but that’s how I feel about it.

I normally go for masks that suck all the gross stuff out of my skin, but it’s winter and I feel like I’m living on a glacier with how dry my face has been. I needed something to add moisture and reduce redness. Oatifix did the trick! I’ve used it almost every day for a week, and it’s definitely helping my face stay nice and hydrated.

First of all, these drops are effing delicious. As someone who pretty much only drinks coffee and alcohol, the fact that these drops have me drinking several liters of water a day is a huge feat.

I finally settled on neon pink and gold as my official colors and the wine labels were really cramping my style. So naturally I threw some paint and glitter on them.

To remove labels:

- Fill sink with hot water and let bottle soak for 30 minutes

- Remove from water and peel off label

- Scrub off what you can using soap and a sponge

- If any glue remains, use Goo-Gone or a similar product

Naturally, I filled one with glitter because I can’t have enough craft herpes in my life. (Jewelry dish is actually a soap dish from Anthropologie)

To create this effect, apply globs (that’s the technical term) of paint and let it drip down. I cheated and used my hair dryer to make it stop where I wanted.

For this one (ok it’s a glass milk container), I poured paint inside the bottle and used a long paint brush to cover the sides. Then I used gold sharpie on the outside for the quote. By the way, W.S. is Shakespeare you peasant.

So yeah. This is what my end table looks like now. Pretty sure I can squeeze two more bottles on there.

Anyway.

Living in New York means a lot of things: I can get bagels whenever I want, I can yell at people on the street for running into me, I can basically do whatever I want whenever I want. Except there’s this thing called being a broke ass 20-something that interferes with mostly everything. The real world really puts a damper on life.

So being on a budget means I don’t get my hair done here because what used to cost me like $40 (thanks Amber my lovely stylist!) in Atlanta now costs over $100, which is an absolute OUTRAGE. For those who know me, I’m notorious for dying my hair when I get bored. I do it all the time but never get a dye job at a salon because it costs too much, and I play with color too frequently. But I loathe box dyes from the drug store. It’s terrible.

Well my mom (HI MOM) found eSalon, tried it out, and became obsessed! She begged me to reach out to them, which I happily did. eSalon is an amazing brand that’s basically a hair dye subscription. You go through the color selection process and determine how frequently you want to freshen up your color. It’s like $20 bucks and it shows up right to your door! You can do the whole thing naked!

Here is how much I love it:

Essentially, eSalon is the absolute hands down best hair dye I’ve ever used in my life. Seriously, no fucking joke. My hair looks a-mah-zing if I do say so myself!

DO NOT BUY BOX DYE ANYMORE, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200. I’m not joking.

Here’s what you need:

- feathers (I got mine from Michael’s for super cheap)

- string (I used jute, but you can use whatever you want)

- acrylic paint color of choice (I chose gold as you can see, next time I’m doing neon pink)

- paintbrush (duh)

- a fuckton of glitter (that’s the scientific measuring term)

- a bowl

- some newspapers or magazines so you don’t make a mess

Step 1:

Step 2: This is technically optional, but I mixed some glitter in with my paint because I wanted ALL THE GLITTER.

Step 4: Paint your feather

Step 5: Gently sprinkle some glitter on the wet paint like you’re fucking Tinkerbell and proceed to get it everywhere.Step 6: Lay feathers across a bowl or some other flat, raised surface to dry. Put some magazines or newspapers under it so the paint doesn’t drip on whatever surface you’re painting on.

Step 7: After they’re dry, tie your feathers to some string, and hang that shit up!

You can make your garland as long or short as you want. I used 7 feathers because it’s my lucky number.

ANYWAY…

Since I got samples from Lavanila back in November, I’ve been just totally obsessed. I use their baby wash as a brush cleanser, I swear by their sunscreen, and I am utterly blown away by their fragrances.

Fragrances are hit or miss for me. I’m really picky about scents because I don’t like anything too floral or sweet. And like look at our options with shit like Justin Bieber’s Girlfriend that makes you smell like a rabid teen fangirl. All of Britney Spears’ fragrances are Eau de Crushed Childhood Dreams. Even reputable brands like Juicy put out scents that make you smell like a baby prostitute.

Needless to say, I don’t really hit the perfume market because I don’t like choking to death while trying to breathe regularly. And I’m often allergic to perfumes, which is exactly why Lavanila happened in the first place. It’s the only brand that lists their fragrance ingredients, and it’s all natural. What’s better? They actually last all day long (like your mom-I’m sorry, that was uncalled for. Actually, no it wasn’t it was too easy. That’s what she said. GOD OK I’LL STOP!)

I’ve sampled all of the scents, but I’m in love with Vanilla Passion Fruit and their newest, Vanilla Blackberry.

Vanilla Passion Fruit is a sultry, slightly spicy scent with hints of sandalwood and vanilla. This is quite a sexy fragrance, probably recommended for use at night or on an OkCupid date. But I’m like YOLO (yeah we’re still using it UGH) and wear it during the day because I think it’s fun to see people get turned on while I’m pressed up against them in a packed subway car.

My god, Vanilla Blackberry is one of the greatest things I’ve had the pleasure of smelling. I would easily bathe in this. It’s not overly sweet and has a unique musky quality to it that is to die for. I’ve never been one to have a “signature scent” but I think this could be it. This is the only fragrance that I’ve had the urge to eat or drink I guess. You should not do this however. And you should definitely not lick it off your wrist when you spray it on. Fragrances are for smelling, not tasting…
