Word Of The Day Wednesday: GIF

Every year, the Oxford American Dictionary composes a list of the top words of the year. But in any good list or competition, only one will be the champion. It’s a super intense contest with lexicographer judges and everything:

“The Word of the Year is chosen annually as a word that has attracted interest and that embodies in some way the ethos of the year. It need not have been coined within the past twelve months and it does not have to be a word that will endure for a significant length of time”

Well amigos, the official Word of the Year for 2012 is GIF. It beat out YOLO for the top spot after what I’m sure were long nights of looking at What Should We Call Me and listening to Drake to compare the two. So here’s to the Word of the Year!
